1882
The Law Family Companies began as Law Motor Freight in 1882 with George E. Law providing transportation services from the family’s barn on Linden St. in Nashua NH with just one horse and buggy.
1929
Fast forward to 1929 and the fleet grew to a total of 6 vehicles – all trucks. Vernice “Bunny” Law (2nd generation), and brother-in-law Harry Ingham, bought the company to officially form Law and Ingham.
1947
In 1947, George and Vernice took their first foray into buying land and buildings. With the help of local advisors, a practice we continue to utilize today, George found a site on Mystic Ave in Boston, MA (Charlestown), built a trucking terminal, and operated it successfully until taken by eminent domain in 1968.
1950
In 1950, George and Vernice bought their first tractors and trailers. They didn’t have room in their downtown Nashua terminal, so they started looking for space to dock them. In 1953 they formed Law Realty, purchased 4 acres on Airport Rd in Nashua, NH, and built their new truck terminal.
1955
In 1955, Law Warehouses was established to leverage the opportunity of entering the complimentary service business of warehousing services. To assist with this new venture, Law Realty purchased its first warehouse on Crown St in Nashua, NH, strategically located near the Nashua rail yard. Over the years, Law Realty continued to purchase industrial properties in and around the Greater Nashua area to facilitate Law Warehouses’ growth.
1959
In 1959, Heavy Duty Truck and Diesel Service was constructed in Nashua, NH to service and maintain the entire fleet of equipment, from trucks and trailers to forklifts, and has continued to do so throughout the years.
1970
In 1970, Jack Law (4th generation) formed BSP Trans (named affectionately after his three children Brian, Scott, and Peter) as a less-than-truckload (LTL) trucking company in New Hampshire hauling furniture. In 1976, BSP expanded its services into airfreight hauling, servicing Delta Airlines at Manchester Airport. In 1980, BSP expanded its airfreight services to also service Logan Airport in Boston, MA. BSP has been servicing airlines and the freight forwarding network of New England ever since.
1978
In 1978, State Street Realty (SSR) was formed by George Law (3rd generation) and Jack Law (4th generation), initially purchasing commercial properties leased to third parties in New Hampshire. As BSP Trans expanded territory, SSR purchased
and constructed properties in New Hampshire and Maine to serve as terminals for BSP Trans. Today, SSR leases over 200,000 square feet of commercial real estate in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine to third parties and BSP Trans.
1992
In 1992, Brian Law (5th generation), joined Law Warehouses full-time and in 1994, took over Law Warehouses, Law Motor Freight, and the two real estate entities. Today, Brian Law is the CEO, President, and Chairman of all of the Law Family Companies.
2016
In 2016, Law Realty & Law Warehouses utilized the opportunity to lease a property underutilized by the warehouse to a third party, prompting Law Warehouses to take advantage of a larger distribution space available for lease in Merrimack NH. Today, Law Warehouses leases more than 200,000 square feet of distribution space in Merrimack, NH, serving more than 45 customers.
2018
In January of 2018, all companies owned and operated by the Law family were consolidated under one umbrella, forming the Law Family Companies.
2019
In 2019, the Law Family Companies acquired their first company outside of the long-held businesses of the family and joined the moving and storage world by purchasing Able Moving & Storage – a well-known and highly regarded moving company in the community.
2022
In 2022, Victoria Law (6th generation), joined the Law Family Companies full-time.
